ARTIST STATEMENT

*1996 Heidenau, Germany

With visual art as my primary mode of expression, my practice integrates anthropological research with painterly self-exploration, illustrating figures through acrylic paintings on canvas, drawing and collage work. I delve into inquiries surrounding the interplay between external attribution and self-perception, as well as themes of bodily autonomy and intimacy.

In my studio practice, I often respond to experiences and conversations through drawing, as a more immediate and embodied way of working than writing. I place these drawings on painted acrylic backgrounds or incorporate collected materials—music covers, ephemera, or other objects that carry traces of time—creating layered surfaces that become part of the work itself. I experiment with overlapping and blending colors, textures, and papers, so that simple, spontaneous line drawings interact with complex, tactile surfaces. This layering allows me to explore the relationships between form, material, and space, while also capturing the atmospheres of in-between moments—fleeting experiences, shared confidences, and subtle dynamics that are difficult to put into words.

I’m interested in exploring questions such as: What elements shape the construction of my identity, and how can I articulate it? To what extent does external judgment influence my self-perception? How can I process and embody the atmospheres of the in-between spaces of critical dialogue in an emotionally tangible way?
